(A) Effects of cyclo-oxygenase (COX) inhibitors on tumor growth at the end of the 14-day experimental period. A suspension of sarcoma 180 cells was injected into the subcutaneous tissue of ddy mice. COX inhibitors (mofezolac, NS-398, JTE-522, and aspirin, each at a dose of 10 mg/kg) were separately administered orally bid (every 12 hours) beginning on the day of cell implantation and continuing throughout the 14-day experimental period. Tumors were then dissected and weighed. Data are means ± sem for the number of tumors indicated in parentheses. *p < 0.05 versus vehicle-treated mice (ANOVA). (B) Effects of modulating vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) neutralizing antibody on tumor growth at the end of the 14-day experimental period. Data are means ± sem for five mice.
