Mesangial matrix expansion (MME) was increased in the untreated Ren2 group. The angiotensin II type 1 receptor antagonist (AT1-RA) and p38 inhibitor, but not the extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) inhibitor, significantly reduced MME.
