Nodular (a) and superficial type basal cell carcinomas (b) display strong and diffuse Notch 1 positivity within lobules of basaloid neoplastic cells. Strands and cords of basaloid cells with scant cytoplasm surrounded by marked fibrosis, typical of sclerodermiform/infiltrating basal cell carcinoma, show low Notch 1 expression (c).
