Abstract
In the leader in the last issue (October 9, 1999) I described the dangers of allowing the enthusiasm of others to blind us to a more reasoned, careful and logical approach to matters, especially when those matters involve the treatment and care of patients. This leader is the companion to that, because it looks at the other side of the coin of the potential danger of enthusiasm — when we use it unknowingly on ourselves.
