Transrepression. Saos-2 cells were transfected, with pC53-SN3 and pSV40-βgal. Cells were washed after 16 h and lysed after a further 24 h. The results show that the 7 base pair insertion is similar to 344P (P=0.33), in that it cannot repress the SV40 promoter, whereas wild-type p53 can.
