Apoptosis levels of differentially treated MDA-MB-435 cells as measured by cytoplasmic nucleosome detection. The histogram shows the percent of cytoplasmic nucleosomes detected in differentially treated MDA-MB-435 cells normalised to serum-free medium plus 1%BSA. The assay was done as described in the Materials and Methods section. Cells treated with TIMP-1, GM6001, or GM6001^* (all were added at a concentration of 4 nM) were all grown in serum-free medium with 1%BSA. There is no statistically significant difference in the level of apoptosis as measured by cytoplasmic nucleosome accumulation between cells grown in serum-free medium with 1%BSA and cells grown in the same medium with TIMP-1, GM6001, or GM6001^* added. (100% represents an OD₄₀₅=0.45).
