FISH analysis of c-myc amplification in tumour cells from breast tumour tissue sections. FISH probe for human c-myc unique-sequence is seen as green, while the normal control signal, a centromeric probe signal for chromosome 8 is shown in red. The nuclei of tumour cells were visualised by DAPI counter-staining. (A) 1 : 1 copy ratio of c-myc to chromosome 8 (c-myc/8 centromere), indicating no amplification of c-myc in tumour cells. (B) 1 : 3 copy ratio of c-myc to chromosome 8 (c-myc/8 centromere), a moderate amplification of the c-myc gene.
