(A) TIMP-3 was detected in the cytoplasm of the basal cells, parabasal cells, and leucocytes in normal oesophageal epithelium (left side). In this case, TIMP-3 expression in the cancer cells (right side) was weaker than that in the normal epithelium. This case was regarded as TIMP-3-reduced (× 100).
