Comparison of the relative accumulation of hypericin in R1 (▪) and RIF-1 tumours (▴). The accumulation of hypericin, expressed as % of injected dose per gram of tumour is shown as a function of tumour weight. Data points were fitted using one-phase exponential decay. The logarithm of the amount of hypericin recovered per gram of tumour tissue as a function of tumour weight is depicted in the inset (for RIF-1: y=−0.001436x+3.305; for R1: y=−0.002194x+3.015). The data were statistically compared after linearisation using the two-way ANCOVA test (analysis of covariance). The difference in relative accumulation of hypericin in R1 and RIF-1 tumours was extremely significant (P-value< 0.0001).
