Comparison of the in vivo anti-angiogenic efficacy of 2-MeOE2bisMATE and 17-Cym-2-MeOE2MATE. Compounds (20 mg kg−1) were administered orally, daily for 4 days, 24 h after Matrigel injection, with plug removal on day 7. FITC-dextran was injected 20 min before plug removal after which the level of angiogenesis was quantified (means±s.e.m., n=5, ***P<0.001, compared with level in plugs supplemented with bFGF for animals receiving vehicle only; NS, nonsignificant).
