Non-parametric Kaplan–Meier plots for overall survival (top) and disease-free survival (bottom) for four patient groupings – those in deprivation category 10 vs decile 1–9, and those having a p53 mutation vs wild-type p53. The logrank χ2 statistic (with associated degrees of freedom and P-value) was used to assess the statistical significance of difference in survival and disease-free chances. Patients with a p53 mutation had 5-year survivals of 72 and 24% (deprivation groups 1–9 and 10, respectively) and corresponding 5-year disease-free survivals of 56 and 20%. Patients with wild-type p53 had 89 and 100% chance of surviving until 5 years (deprivation groups 1–9 and 10, respectively), with corresponding 5-year disease-free survivals of 80 and 100%.
