(a) Evolution to monogeny: a maternal feminizer overrides a zygotic male determining locus (β = –0.1). Complete monogeny evolves, with the population being composed of Ff mothers that produce all daughters and Ff mothers that produce all sons (x*z = 1). As above, the population sex ratio thus evolves to 50:50 (q* = 0.5). Arrows indicate the trajectory of evolutionary change.
