From: Energy transfer in supramolecular materials for new applications in photonics and electronics

At low concentrations, an iridium complex bearing two crown ether macrocycles (Ir-MC) forms a bis pseudo-rotaxane in the presence of a bis-ammonium guest (G), whereas a supramolecular polymer is obtained at high concentrations. The system displays efficient electroluminescence thanks to intermolecular energy transfer and can be modified with a third component (G′) possessing similar or different electronic properties.
