(A) Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) was performed for all mice on day 0 after which they were randomly assigned to treatment and control groups. The mice in the treatment group received 65 mg kg−1 BEZ235 on three consecutive days (‘Tx’ indicates administration of drug). After the last treatment on day 3, the mice were imaged again using MRI after which they were killed and the tumours were excised for histology. (B) For μCT the mice were randomly assigned to treatment and control groups and treated in the same way as the mice that underwent MRI. After the treatment on day 3, the mice were perfused with Microfil and the tumours were harvested for ex vivo μCT.
