From: p63 is required beside p53 for PERP-mediated apoptosis in uveal melanoma

Schematic representation of the involvement of p63 alongside p53 in the transcriptional regulation of PERP with role in initiation of apoptosis in UM. PERP requires direct activation by p63, not only for cell–cell adhesion processes but also for apoptotic functions as well. As previously shown (Davies et al, 2011), PERP expression subsequently leads to p53 stabilisation, most likely through a process involving disruption of the interaction between p53 and its negative regulator MDM2.
