Colony-forming assay using D54 cells. (a) Cells were treated with AdEGFP or AdsTRAIL and plated in soft agar and allowed to grow as colonies. Colony formation was monitored by phase-contrast and fluorescent microscopy, and the number of colonies counted on day 12 after plating. (b) The number of colonies for each treatment condition was counted by phase-contrast microscopy and plotted as colonies per high power field
