TRAIL synergizes with paracetamol in inducing endothelial cell death. The human cell lines skHep-1 or EA.hy926 were stimulated with TRAIL and paracetamol and cell death was assessed by MTT assay (a) or by Annexin V-FITC staining 16 h after stimulation (b). Cells were treated with media or increasing concentrations of paracetamol or with 10 mM paracetamol, 30 ng/ml respectively 3 ng/ml TRAIL or the combination thereof and harvested and cytospin was performed at 600 rpm for 2 min. Cells were microscopically visualized after hematoxylin and eosin staining (c). Mean values±S.D. triplicates are shown for MTT assay, which were repeated four times, yielding similar results. A typical experiment out of three is shown for Annexin V staining. *** P<0.001, **P<0.01 versus paracetamol alone treated cells
