PIO effect on LDH activities. Cytosolic samples from whole hemispheres of treated and untreated animals of the three genotypes were evaluated for (a) forward and (b) reverse LDH activities. (a) Pyruvate reductase (LDHPyr→Lac) activity. PIO treatment induced significant reduction of forward LDH activity in WT female mice; a trend toward decreased LDH activity was found in PIO-diet PS1-KI females. (b) Lactate oxidase (LDHLac→Pyr) activity. In both male and female WT mice, PIO treatment increased reverse LDH activity. Significant increase in reverse LDH activity is present in PIO-diet PS1-KI females. Data are shown as percentage of LDH activities found in CTRL-diet female WT mice, a group used as control. Bars represent means±S.E.M.; n=4. Statistical analysis was performed with analysis of variance for repeated measures. *0.05<P≤0.095; **0.05≤P<0.01; ***P≤0.01
