Compound K induces autophagy-mediated cell death via ROS generation. HCT-116 cells were treated with compound K (20 μg/ml) and/or NAC (1 mM) for 18 h. (a) ROS levels were assessed by flow cytometry after DCF-DA staining. Compound K-induced autophagy was assessed by (b) flow cytometry and (c) fluorescence microscopy after acridine orange staining, (d) western blot analysis, and (e) fluorescence microscopy after transfection with GFP-LC3. *Significantly different from control (P<0.05) and #significantly different from compound K-treated cells (P<0.05)
