Quantitative RT-PCR analysis of the mRNA expression profile of ATMCs cultured into BMe+50EGF. The expression patterns of EMT (a), mesothelial (b), SM (c) and cardiac (d and e) genes was compared between ATMCs cultured for 5, 10 and 15 days in BMe+50EGF and the freshly isolated ATMCs (black bars), which served as the calibrator sample. Gene expression was normalized against expression levels of the housekeeping gene TBP. Results shown are the mean fold change±S.D. in mRNA expression relative to the calibrator sample (set as 1) calculated from three independent enzymatic isolation of ATMCs and cultures into BMe+50EGF. Statistical significance (*P<0.05 and **P<0.03) was determined by using Student’s t-test
