Osmotin protects against ethanol-induced collapse of mitochondrial membrane potential in primary cultures of fetal hippocampal neurons. Mitochondrial polarization was monitored by flow cytometric analysis of JC-1-stained cells that were treated for 24 h with ethanol (EtOH, 100 mM), osmotin (Osm, 0.16 μM), osmotin plus ethanol (Osm, 0.16 μM+EtOH, 100 mM), or untreated (Control). Collapse of mitochondrial membrane potential is associated with high FL1 fluorescence (green) and low FL2 fluorescence (red). The number in each quadrant indicates percent cell population in that quadrant out of total cells
