Bid BH3 chimeras are stable recombinant proteins. (a) Sequence of Bid BH3 chimeras. Sequence alignment shows the Bid BH3 domain swapped for that of other Bcl-2 family members. Hydrophobic residues (h1–h4) that are important for binding to prosurvival proteins31 are highlighted, as are the recently identified h0 residues that are important for binding to Bax.24 (b) Recombinant Bid BH3 chimeras.
