Ccr2 knockout suppresses blue light-caused photoreceptor apoptosis in the mice retina. TUNEL staining of retinal sections starting from the optic nerve of (a) WT Ctrl mice and (c) Ccr2−/− Ctrl mice. After 3 months of BLE, (b) a significant increase of apoptotic photoreceptors was caused in WT+BLE mice (d) while Ccr2 knockout significantly suppressed the blue light-induced photoreceptors apoptosis. TUNEL-positive cells (red) mainly expressed in the ONL. Cell nuclei (blue) were counterstained with DAPI.
