The reduction of breast cancer cell metastatic nodules in response to sicPLA2α was due to impaired metastatic seeding at the metastatic locus in vivo. Tumors from the female nude mice that were orthotopically transplanted with the same number of MDA-MB-231 and sicPLA2α/MDA-MB-231 cells (6 × 106/mouse) into the fat pad (n=6/group), the mice were killed when the tumor volume reached ~1 cm3 (a) the primary tumor volume and weight for two groups and (b) the number of lung metastasis for two groups.
