Small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) is an aggressive disease that accounts for approximately 15% of all lung cancer diagnoses; it is subdivided into limited stage (LS-SCLC) and extensive stage (ES-SCLC) disease. Most patients are diagnosed with ES-SCLC or unresectable LS-SCLC; few patients with LS-SCLC are resected with curative intent.
