Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death worldwide. It is classified according to cell of origin into small-cell lung cancer (SCLC) and non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC), the latter accounting for approximately 85% of cases. NSCLC is further divided into nonsquamous (including adenocarcinoma) and squamous lung cancer.
