Cav-3 mutants are retained in an intracellular compartment and are expressed at lower levels. Cos-7 cells were transiently transfected with cDNA encoding either for Cav-3 wild type (WT) or the Cav-3 mutant T78K. (a) Thirty-six hours post-transfection, cells were fixed and stained with antibodies against Cav-3. Cav-3 WT is localized at the plasma membrane, as expected, whereas Cav-3 T78K is retained in an intracellular, perinuclear compartment. N, nucleus. Final magnification, × 100.
