Schematic representation of the signaling pathway of IL-1β-induced MCP1 expression in HASMCs. IL-1β activates PC-PLC to induce PKC activation and translocation of NF-κB to the nucleus. This activation cascade results in increased expression of MCP1. IL-1β additionally activates PLD and tyrosine kinase, which are involved in MCP1 expression independently of NF-κB translocation.
