Serum gB-specific IgG levels of animals immunized with pCIgB in the presence of salbutamol. (A and B) Groups of BALB/c (H-2d) were co-immunized i.n. with the indicated mixture of pCIgB DNA vaccine (100 µg) and salbutamol (10, 50, 100, and 200 µg) three times at 7-day intervals. Some mice were immunized i.n. with control vector (pCI-neo) to remove the effect of the plasmid backbone. The gB-specific IgG levels in sera were determined by conventional ELISA on the seventh day after each immunization. Arrows in graph denote date to immunize mice: 1°, first immunization; 2°, second immunization; 3°, third immunization.
