Experimental Design. After 2 weeks of transverse aortic banding (TAB), echocardiography was conducted in order to confirm the establishment of compensated left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH). Mice were divided into four groups following TAB or sham surgery (Sham/Saline, Sham/PTH, TAB/Saline, and TAB/PTH) and treated with either saline (0.9% NaCl) or PTH (80 µg/kg/d) for 2 weeks. After additional 4 weeks, the hearts of the mice were examined by echocardiography and then the mice were euthanized for histological and molecular analyses.
