From: Protective effect of 4,4'-diaminodiphenylsulfone against paraquat-induced mouse lung injury

Effect of DDS on PQ-induced changes in oxidative damage associated enzymes. (A) The levels of several proteins in lungs from PQ- and DDS-treated mice were evaluated by Western blotting. Lung tissues were removed and homogenized in lysis buffer. PQ treatment increased the protein level of MMP-9 and decreased the protein levels of MnSOD, GR, Prdx1, and GSTπ. DDS reduced the effects of PQ on the protein levels. β-Actin was used as loading control. Protein bands were visualized by ECL. (B) Total mouse lung RNA was prepared and analyzed by RT-PCR using primers specific for GR mRNA. The PCR products were separated by electrophoresis in 1.2% agarose gels, with β-actin as a loading control. Quantified data (n = 3) are presented in bar graphs. #P < 0.05 vs. control mice (Control); *P < 0.05 vs. PQ-treated mice (PQ).
