From: Inhibition of mouse brown adipocyte differentiation by second-generation antipsychotics

Effect of clozapine, quetiapine and ziprasidone on the expression of lipogenic genes and adipokines. Brown preadipocytes were differentiated with the induction media in the presence of (A) clozapine (■, 40 µM), (B) quetiapine (▨, 30 µM), and (C) ziprasidone (▩, 10 µM) or DMSO (□, 0.1%). At day 8 after the induction, total RNA was isolated from the cultures, and the expressions of lipogenic genes (ACC, FAS, SCD1, aP2, CD36 and GLUT4), and adipokines (resistin, leptin and adiponectin) were determined by qRT-PCR. Relative mRNA level of each gene was normalized to the level of 36B4. The data shown are representative of three independent experiments performed in triplicate. Data are mean ± SEM. *P < 0.05.
