Overexpression of B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) enhances aspirin-induced apoptotic cell death in MCF-7 cells. (a) Overexpressed Bcl-2 levels in MCF-7 cells transfected with the plasmids Flag-mock or Flag-Bcl-2 were detected by immunoblotting. (b) Transfected cells were treated with 5 mM aspirin for 24 h. Nuclear and cytoplasmic fractions were prepared and subjected to immunoblotting with the indicated antibodies. C, cytosolic fraction, N, nuclear fraction. (c) Transfected cells were exposed to 5 mM aspirin, and the sub-G1 cell population was then measured by flow cytometry at the indicated time points. Error bars represent the s.e. calculated from three independent experiments.
