High levels of B-cell lymphoma 2 (Bcl-2) are associated with the antiproliferative effects of aspirin in breast cancer cells. (a) Cell lysates from MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells were subjected to immunoblotting to detect Bcl-2 protein levels. (b) MDA-MB-231 and MCF-7 cells were treated with several concentrations of aspirin as indicated for 24 h, and cell proliferation was measured by MTT assay. Error bars represent the s.e. calculated from three independent experiments.
