Effect of cadmium (Cd) on endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress-related gene expression. BEAS-2B (2 × 105 cells per well for qPCR and immunoblotting) were treated with the indicated concentrations of Cd (1–10 μM). Levels of transcripts for GRP78, ERDJ4, Ero1LB, PBGD, IRE1, PERK/eIF2α, ATF4, ATF6, sXBP1, XBP1 and GADD34 were analyzed using SYBR green-based quantitative real-time PCR. Data represent the mean±s.e.m for three biological replicates. *P<0.05; **P<0.01 (a). Effects of Cd on the levels of ER stress-related proteins were detected by western blotting (b). All data shown are representative of at least three biological replicates.
