For each strain, partial sequences from five genes were used: wsp (460 bp), ftsZ (435 bp), gatB (368 bp), coxA (403 bp), hcpA (444 bp) and fbpA (429 bp). Bootstrap values for 10 000 parsimony replicates (top) and Bayesian posterior probabilities (bottom) are shown. Male-killing lineages are shown in bold. (b) Phylogenetic reconstruction of representative Drosophila species. Those species that are host to Wolbachia strains included in ‘a’ are shown in bold.
