Edge effects influence survival probability, mutant population size and maximum x-displacement. The nature of the edge effect is determined by boundary condition and mutant fitness. In each of the plates, grey indicates results obtained for reflective and black for absorbing boundary conditions. Results for (ac) deleterious, (df) neutral and (gi) beneficial mutants. All results were generated for K=10 and R=1.8. For illustrative purposes, the y axis scale varies between graphs.
