Eggs from Gryllus firmus females. The first is a typical fertilized G. firmus egg from a conspecific cross, the second is an unfertilized egg and the third is an egg from a hybrid cross. Hybrid cross eggs and unfertilized eggs are always narrower than a fertilized G. firmus egg. Color variation is commonly observed in unfertilized and hybrid cross eggs.
