Inbreeding effect at progeny level. The actual progeny means are not related to the individual selfing rate (top line graphs), but selfing rate indicates the difference between actual and potential progeny means because of inbreeding depression (bottom line graphs). The actual and potential progeny values of non-selfed progenies are equal (represented in the open circle). For partially selfed progenies, the actual values were computed as the best linear unbiased predictions (BLUP) in a sub-model without the covariate ‘probability of selfing’, whereas the potential values were the BLUP estimates for a null value of this covariate in the global model. For germination time, the selfing effect was only significant in the G0 generation, which is represented here.
