Geographic and environmental correlates with pigmentation. Line-specific least-squares means for pigmentation from dataset A (closed boxes) and population-specific least-squares means for pigmentation from dataset B (open diamonds) are plotted against the latitude (a), longitude (b), altitude (c), temperature (d) and relative humidity (e) for each collection site. The R2 values are shown for each comparison along with their associated P-values (determined using proc reg in SAS), with values for dataset A in the top part of each panel and values for dataset B in the lower part of each panel. Note that dataset A encompasses a larger range for each of the variables analyzed than dataset B.
