(a) The ∼3-kbp sequence obtained by AFLP and genome walking. Seven tandem repeats of 88 bp, each starting with a 12-bp palindrome, are indicated by striped rectangles, as are three 11-bp inverted repeats (indicated by triangles). (b) A 340-bp sequence within the ∼3-kbp sequence obtained by genomic walking in the area surrounding the original AFLP product was amplified both in male and female prawns. In this 340-bp sequence, two female-specific SNPs were identified (), which enabled the female-specific amplification of the SCAR marker. An insertion of three nucleotides (
