Kaplan–Meier cardiovascular event-free survival curves. Kaplan–Meier cardiovascular event-free survival curves based on results obtained with the lower or higher brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) groups (lower than a median baPWV of 1730 cm s–1 (group 2) or higher (group 3)) in diabetic patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Kaplan–Meier cardiovascular event-free survival curve for nondiabetic patients with CAD is also shown, using these patients as a reference group (group 1). The cardiovascular events were defined as the composite of death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, repeat revascularization or readmission for heart failure. DM, diabetes mellitus.
