After week 12, other antihypertensive agents were permitted at the investigator’s discretion if the subject’s SiSBP was >140 mm Hg and/or their SiDBP was >90 mm Hg. If a subject received any other antihypertensive agent, then the BP measurements taken after the introduction of other agents were excluded from the long-term efficacy analyses.
