Involvement of angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R) in angiotensin II (Ang II)-induced interleukin-6 (IL-6) transcription. COS7 cells were transfected with an AT1R-expressing vector (pAT1R) or empty vector (pcDNA) along with a firefly luciferase reporter vector containing the IL-6 promoter region and Renilla luciferase vector as an internal control. Next day, the cells were treated with dimethyl sulfoxide (Cont), 50 μmol l⁻¹ valsartan (Val), 10 μmol l⁻¹ Ang II alone (Ang) or a combination (Ang+Val) for 1 day, then IL-6 transcription was assessed by the luciferase activity.
