Process of fracture healing. Cartilage is formed after fracture, accompanied by invasion of neovasculature. Hypertrophic differentiation of chondrocytes is observed in the process of cartilage formation, and subsequently apoptosis of hypertrophic chondrocytes occurs. Osteoblasts perform endochondral ossification, and cartilage is replaced by bone followed by fracture healing.
