Silkworm killing ability of Mycobacterium smegmatis. A suspension of the M. smegmatis M341 strain was diluted to the indicated cell number and injected into the silkworm hemolymph. Infected silkworms were incubated at 37 °C. The number of surviving silkworms was counted 60 h after the injection. ♦: 2.5 × 107;
