PAM-positive basement membrane formation in fetal small vessels is detectable from E16 and accomplished at E19 in WT placenta, whereas it is poorly performed in PAH placenta. (b) Immunohistochemical stainings for CD31 and α-SMA of labyrinth at E19. Insets represent a double stainings for CD31 (green) and α-SMA (red). (c) The results of CD31-positive microvessel density (MVD) (upper) and α-SMA-positive MVD (lower). The data was obtained from every two center areas of five different samples in each group.
