Development and progression of collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) in DBA/1J mice. Clinical score (a) and paw volume (b) were analyzed from day 7 after collagen immunization until day 42. Clinical score demonstrated a progressive development of arthritis mainly after the booster, on day 21. It was detected a significantly greater paw volume on day 32 with a peak on day 42. Values are the mean and s.e.m. taking a P-value less than 0.05 as significant (n=5 animals per group). **P<0.01 vs day 21 (one way ANOVA followed by test for linear trend between means and Dunnett's post hoc test).
