Microstructural changes in cardiomyocytes. H and E staining in rats showed that in controls (a), the microstructure of cardiomyocytes was normal; in ISO group (b), myocardial structure was damaged. Necrosis of myocardial cells, dissolution of myocardial cells, and infiltration of monocytes and other inflammatory cells were present; whereas in ISO+SO2 group (c), the damage of myocardial structure was improved; and in SO2 group (d), the damage of myocardial structure was not observed.
