Increases in glomerular collagen I expression in diabetic nephropathy are reduced by TG-2 inhibition. Unilateral nephrectomized male Wistar rats were subjected to streptozotocin-induced diabetes and subsequently treated with the TG-2 inhibitor NTU281 or vehicle. Tissue sections were immunostained for collagen I, and glomerular expression quantified on a 0–5+ scale by a blinded observer for 25 consecutive glomerular cross-sections.
